Hello Bloomington!

I am Lona Dallessandro, Bloomington District III’s councilmember. Serving people faithfully is in my blood - I am the proud child of a career military officer and a church leader who instilled in me a sense of duty and obligation to use my gifts to the betterment of other people’s lives. I am honored that the residents of District III voted me into office in 2021, and am looking forward to serving you again when we win in November 2023!

Why I am Running for Re-Election

I ran for this office in 2021 because I believed we needed a leader who was willing to be proactive and innovative about serving this community. In my time on Council, we’ve been able to make significant investments in areas where residents see value, like public safety, natural resources preservation, and community development. If I am fortunate enough to win again in November 2023, I will focus on bringing more creativity to the investment process for District III and the city, and will continue advocating for more green space rehabilitation, improvements to service offerings for seniors, and increased multi-modal transportation options within city limits.

A Little About My Family

I met Sarah, a native of Houston, when I lived in Austin, TX. We both loved watching college football, and so our first conversations were of course about the superiority of the Big Ten over the SEC!

We got married 13 years ago during peak autumn color season in Vermont. Our favorite weekend activities together include gardening, camping, and driving around town in our vintage 1965 Ford Mustang. We also enjoy traveling, especially to places where we can SCUBA dive, and try to visit a new country or territory every year.

We have a wonderful old cat named Fred. Like our friends Sheba, Maya, Hilda, Peanut, and George before him, Fred’s love and affection warms our hearts daily and reminds us that, to paraphrase M.K. Clinton, “the world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a pet.”
